The film
A cardiac ICU charge nurse walks her unit at shift change, and explains why the hardest job she has ever had is the one she stayed in.
The problem on the table
The institute was competing for CCRN-certified nurses against three systems inside a forty-mile radius, all offering similar pay.
How we made it
We filmed two day shifts and one night, following a single charge nurse. No leadership interviews, no facility B-roll — the argument for the unit had to come from the people already in it.
Behind the scenes
- Monitors and identifiers were framed out in-camera rather than blurred in post.
- The charge nurse saw every cut before her colleagues did.
- Ambient room tone was recorded clean so the film needed almost no score.
It is the first recruitment video we have made that our own nurses share on their own accounts.
